Are seat belts in Suzuki Mehran effective enough for passenger safety?

Are seat belts in Suzuki Mehran effective enough for passenger safety?

My 2014 Mehran has front seat belts, but no belts for the back seats. Also, the front ones feel loose and don’t lock properly. Are the factory-installed seat belts in Mehran reliable in a crash? Can I upgrade to better seat belts o r install rear seat belts for extra safety?

The factory-installed seat belts in Mehran are basic but functional, only in the front for most variants. Older models often have loose o r non-locking mechanisms, making them less effective.

What you can do:

Replace worn-out seat belt retractors – available in auto markets for Rs. 1,500–3,000.

Install rear seat belts – many car electricians can install aftermarket sets in the rear seat.

Use belt locks o r clips to keep seat belts snug and properly positioned.

While they don’t offer the same protection as in modern cars, using functioning seat belts significantly reduces the risk of injury in minor accidents o r sudden braking.
