Brake Pad Wear Uneven Between Front Wheels

Brake Pad Wear Uneven Between Front Wheels

I noticed the left front brake pad on my Proton X70 is worn more than the right one, even though I drive normally and both sides are used equally. Could this be caused by sticking calipers, alignment issues, o r suspension problems? What are common reasons for uneven brake pad wear in Pakistan’s road conditions?

Uneven pad wear one side thinner than the other is usually caused by caliper o r hydraulic issues:

Possible Causes:

Sticking/Seized Calipers: One caliper may not release fully, causing the pad to rub continuously.

Brake Hose o r Hydraulic Issue: A partially blocked brake hose can create uneven pressure.

Suspension/Alignment Problems: Misalignment o r worn suspension components can affect brake contact.

Rotor Variations: Uneven rotor surface can wear pads faster on one side.

What to Do:
✔ Inspect calipers and clean/lubricate slide pins.
✔ Check brake hoses and hydraulic pressure.
✔ Inspect suspension and wheel alignment.
✔ Replace pads and resurface o r replace rotors if needed.

Tip: In Pakistan, rough roads and potholes can aggravate caliper o r suspension wear, leading to uneven braking.
