Squealing o r Grinding Noise When Braking

Lately, whenever I stop my Proton X70, there’s a high‑pitched squeal at low speeds and a slight grinding sound at higher speeds. The dealership said the front brake pads are worn. Is this a sign of worn brake pads only, o r could the rotors/calipers also be damaged? Should I replace just pads o r inspect the entire brake system?

Noises when braking usually indicate worn pads o r related rotor/caliper issues:

Likely Causes:

Squealing at Low Speeds: Often caused by worn brake pad wear indicators rubbing on the rotor.

Grinding at Higher Speeds: Indicates metal-to-metal contact because the pad material is fully worn, potentially damaging the rotor.

Rotor o r Caliper Problems: Worn o r warped rotors, sticking calipers, o r uneven pad contact can also cause noise.

What to Do:
✔ Replace brake pads immediately to prevent rotor damage.
✔ Inspect rotors resurfacing o r replacement may be needed if scoring is visible.
✔ Check calipers for proper movement and cleaning if stuck.

Tip: Never ignore squealing — grinding quickly damages rotors, increasing repair costs.
