Can a clogged catalytic converter cause overheating o r engine misfire in Suzuki Swift?

My Swift’s engine feels hotter than usual, and I sometimes notice jerking o r misfires when driving. Could a blocked catalytic converter be causing back pressure o r overheating?

Yes, a clogged catalytic converter can lead to engine overheating and even misfires in severe cases. Here’s how:

The blockage increases exhaust back pressure, causing hot gases to stay in the engine longer

This increases engine temperature, especially at high RPMs

Back pressure can also disrupt air-fuel ratios, leading to misfiring o r knocking

This is a common problem in older Swift models 2010–2015 that haven’t had the exhaust system inspected o r cleaned regularly. If your engine feels unusually hot and misfires under load, get the exhaust and catalytic converter inspected immediately.
