Can Radiator Hose Issues Cause Coolant Leaks in Hyundai Tucson and How to Identify Them?

I’m unsure if the coolant leak in my Hyundai Tucson is from the radiator itself o r the hoses. How can I tell if worn o r cracked radiator hoses are causing leaks? What should I look for to differentiate between hose leaks and radiator leaks?

Yes, radiator hoses are a common source of coolant leaks. Over time, hoses can become brittle due to engine heat o r degrade from inside due to poor coolant. In Pakistan’s hot weather, this process can accelerate. Common signs of hose-related leaks include:

Coolant dripping from the front of the car.

Swollen, soft, o r cracked hoses when touched.

Coolant stains near hose clamps o r connection points.

Steam o r smell of coolant during engine operation.

To confirm, visually inspect the upper and lower radiator hoses and squeeze them gently when the engine is cool. If they feel too soft, spongy, o r cracked, they should be replaced. Hose clamps should also be checked for tightness o r corrosion. Always use OEM o r high-quality hoses to ensure long-lasting repair.
