Can the Infotainment System o r Keyless Entry Be Draining My Tucson’s Battery?

Even when the vehicle is turned off, I’ve noticed that the infotainment screen sometimes lights up o r the system seems partially active. Could the multimedia unit o r the smart key system in the Tucson be draining the battery while the car is parked?

Yes, both the infotainment system and smart key modules can cause standby drain, especially if they stay in a semi-active state. Common culprits include:

Infotainment screen not shutting down completely.

Proximity sensors for smart key constantly searching for the key fob.

Bluetooth o r connected services staying live due to software bugs.

How to minimize this:

Make sure the infotainment system is completely off before leaving the car.

Turn off Bluetooth o r Wi-Fi if not in use.

Keep the smart key away from the vehicle at least 10-15 feet when parked to prevent proximity sensing.

If the problem persists, ask the dealership to perform a firmware update o r system reset.
