: Clicking o r Grinding Noise When Operating the Window

When I try to roll down o r up a window in my United Alpha, I hear a grinding o r clicking noise from inside the door. What does this typically indicate — worn o r broken gears in the regulator, frayed cables, o r a failing motor? How risky is it to keep using the window in this state, and what should be replaced to resolve the noise?
