Whenever I turn on the AC in my Suzuki Swift, the fuel average s significantly. Is this normal, o r is there something wrong with the AC system o r engine load handling?

Yes, turning on the air conditioning system increases the load on the engine, causing it to consume more fuel. This is especially noticeable in 1.3L and 1.2L engine variants of the Swift, which have less torque to compensate under load.

Details:

AC systems typically reduce fuel economy by 8–15%, especially in city driving.

In older Swift models, compressor drag is more noticeable.

Driving with windows down at high speeds is also inefficient due to aerodynamic drag.

Tips to Reduce Impact:

Use the AC in recirculation mode.

Turn off AC at signals o r when not needed.

Park in shade to reduce cabin heat buildup.
