Fuel Cap String Tether Broken on Tucson – Replacement Options?

The small plastic string that holds my Tucson’s fuel cap to the fuel door has snapped. Now I have to be careful not to misplace the cap while refueling. Is this a common issue? Does Hyundai Pakistan provide this part separately, o r do I need to replace the entire cap unit?

The plastic tether that holds the fuel cap is often a weak point and can break easily over time—especially due to:

Rough handling during refueling.

Heat exposure weakening the plastic.

Age-related plastic fatigue in dusty, dry climates.

While not a critical issue, it’s annoying and can lead to accidentally losing the cap. In Pakistan, this part is usually not sold separately by Hyundai, so you may need to buy the full cap assembly to get the string. Some users have also found aftermarket tether straps online o r used DIY solutions e.g., zip ties, but OEM is preferred for durability.
