Headlight Bulb Keeps Burning Out Frequently — Is There an Electrical Fault in United Alpha?

The headlight bulb on my United Alpha keeps burning out every few weeks. I’m using good-quality bulbs, but the problem continues. Could this be caused by voltage fluctuations, poor wiring, o r a weak alternator? What parts should I check to stop the bulbs from failing so quickly?

If your United Alpha repeatedly burns headlight bulbs, the problem is usually related to electrical fluctuations o r poor-quality connections, not the bulb itself.

Most common causes

Overvoltage due to a weak o r faulty voltage regulator in the alternator

Loose bulb holder causing arcing creates heat and burns the filament

Cheap connector sockets that melt and damage the bulb

Improper bulb wattage higher watt bulbs overheat the housing

Poor grounding earth wire

What to check

Measure the battery charging voltage with the engine running.

Normal: 13.5–14.4V

Above 14.8V = alternator/regulator issue.

Inspect the headlight connector for burn marks o r melting.

Check the ground wire for corrosion o r looseness.

Ensure the bulb wattage is stock 55W.

Fixing the voltage issue o r replacing the damaged socket usually stops bulbs from burning out.
