Why Are My Brakes Squealing o r Grinding?

I hear a high-pitched squealing or sometimes a grinding noise when I press the brakes in my United Alpha. Is this a sign that the brake pads have worn down to their metal wear indicators? What are the common reasons for this in cars in Pakistan — like overheated pads, glazed surfaces, o r contamination from dust? What should I ask my mechanic to check o r replace?

Common reasons for fast brake pad wear in Pakistan include:

Heavy stop-and-go traffic: Frequent braking in urban areas accelerates pad wear.

Dusty o r sandy roads: Abrasive particles can wear down pads faster.

Low-quality o r counterfeit pads: Some local aftermarket pads wear much faster than genuine parts.

Aggressive driving habits: Hard braking, riding the brakes downhill, o r overloading the vehicle.

Fix:

Use genuine o r high-quality pads recommended for United Alpha.

Avoid continuous hard braking use engine braking where possible.

Inspect and replace pads before they wear too thin to protect rotors.

Rotate pads front-to-back if the vehicle’s design allows, and check calipers for proper function.
