How can I tell if the water pump in my Suzuki Mehran is failing?

Lately, my Mehran has been overheating during drives in city traffic. I suspect the water pump might be faulty, but I’m not sure what symptoms to look for. What are the signs of a bad water pump in Mehran?

A failing water pump usually gives off a few key signs. In Mehran, the most common symptoms are:

Engine overheating, especially during idle o r in traffic.

Coolant leakage around the front side of the engine o r water pump area.

A whining o r grinding noise from the water pump bearing.

Coolant not circulating properly, seen when checking the radiator while the car is running.

Low coolant level even after topping up indicating a slow leak.

If you’re facing any of these signs, it’s a good idea to have the pump inspected and replaced before it causes serious engine damage.
