How do I know if my Suzuki Swift’s purge control valve needs cleaning o r replacement?

My car hesitates slightly when accelerating and has poor fuel economy. There’s no major fault code. Could a dirty o r stuck purge control valve cause this, and should I try cleaning it before replacing?

If your Swift has poor acceleration, low fuel economy, o r subtle hesitation while driving—but no major fault codes—it may be due to a partially clogged o r sticky purge control valve.

Symptoms of a bad o r dirty purge valve:

Hesitation during throttle input

Fuel smell near the engine

CEL with intermittent EVAP codes

High fuel consumption without any leak

To check it manually:

Remove the valve and apply vacuum to one side while sealing the other if it leaks, its faulty.

Apply 12V to its solenoid pins—if it doesnt click, its failed electrically.

You can try cleaning it with throttle body o r carburetor cleaner. If symptoms persist, it’s best to replace it with an OEM o r Japanese-made equivalent.
