How Often Should I Replace the Water Pump in a Suzuki Khyber?

My Khyber is over 10 years old and has never had the water pump replaced. Is there a recommended interval for changing it in Pakistan’s hot climate, o r should it only be replaced when it fails?

In Pakistan’s hot climate, and with Khyber being an older model, it’s wise to replace the water pump preventively if:

The car is over 7–10 years old

You’re replacing the timing belt if equipped

You’ve had any overheating issues in the past

General Replacement Advice:

Every 80,000–100,000 km, o r if symptoms appear

Use good quality parts ASK, GMB, o r original used from a reputable parts shop

Cost in Pakistan as of 2024–25:

New water pump: PKR 2,000–3,500

Labour cost: PKR 800–1,500
