: Older Khyber fuel caps often lose the rubber gasket o r sealing ring. If this piece is missing, how badly does it affect fuel efficiency, pressure, o r safety, and should the entire cap be replaced?

Yes, the rubber gasket o r O-ring on the fuel cap is crucial for creating a tight seal. Without it, the cap cannot hold pressure o r prevent fuel vapors from leaking.

Risks:

Continuous fuel evaporation

Possible dust o r water entry into the fuel tank

Increased chance of engine performance issues in EFI-modified Khybers

Solution:

If the gasket is missing o r cracked, replace the entire cap gaskets alone are hard to find in the market

Always check the cap after each fuel refill
