Is it safe to drive a Suzuki Mehran with a noisy o r slightly leaking water pump?

My mechanic said the water pump is making a slight noise and might be leaking from the bearing. Im currently low on budget—can I drive it like this for a while o r will it lead to engine damage?

It’s not recommended, even if the noise o r leak seems minor. A noisy water pump usually means the bearing is worn, and a leaking pump can suddenly fail, leading to:

Sudden engine overheating.

Coolant loss, leaving you stranded.

Potential head gasket failure which is expensive to fix.

Driving short distances to reach a mechanic is fine, but don’t delay repairs too long. Replacing the pump early is much cheaper than fixing a blown engine.
