Is my Swift’s alternator the reason my battery keeps going flat?

I’ve had to jump-start my 2012 Swift multiple times this month. A mechanic told me the battery is okay, but the alternator might not be charging it properly. How do I know if the alternator is the actual cause?

Yes, the alternator could be the reason. It’s responsible for charging the battery while the engine runs. If the alternator is weak o r the voltage regulator inside it fails, your battery will not charge properly.

Signs of a bad alternator:

Battery light on the dashboard

Dim headlights o r dashboard lights

Battery voltage under 13.5V when engine is running

Engine stalls o r struggles with electrical load AC, lights

You can test the alternator with a multimeter. A healthy system should read 13.5–14.5V across the battery terminals when the engine is running. If its lower, the alternator likely needs servicing o r replacement.
