Is Poor Windshield Washer Fluid Quality Causing Smudges on My Tucson?

I’ve been using the factory windshield washer fluid o r just plain water in my Hyundai Tucson, and I notice the windshield becomes smeary o r oily after cleaning. Is this due to poor-quality washer fluid o r is it an issue with the washer nozzles? Whats the best cleaning fluid for Pakistani weather?

Yes, using plain water o r low-quality washer fluid can cause smearing o r oily smudges, especially when it mixes with:

Road dust

Grease o r oil residue from vehicles

Acid rain o r industrial pollution

This is quite common in cities like Karachi, Lahore, o r Faisalabad, where the air is often polluted. Tap water can also leave mineral deposits hard water spots on the windshield.

To avoid this:

Use a branded windshield washer concentrate e.g., Sonax, STP, o r Rain-X mixed with distilled water.

Avoid adding household soaps o r detergents—they leave residue.
