Is Suzuki Khyber’s carburetor system outdated compared to today’s EFI systems?

The Khyber runs on an old carbureted engine, while modern 1000cc cars use EFI Electronic Fuel Injection. The fuel average, pickup, and cold start are all worse compared to newer cars. Is the carburetor the main limitation now, and can anything be done to improve its efficiency?

Yes, the carburetor system in the Khyber is considered outdated compared to modern EFI Electronic Fuel Injection systems. Carburetors require frequent tuning, perform poorly in cold starts, and deliver inconsistent fuel-air mixtures—leading to poor fuel average and rough idle. EFI systems are more efficient, responsive, and economical. While a full EFI swap is possible, it’s costly and not common in Pakistan. Regular carburetor cleaning and tuning is the best way to keep performance acceptable within the carburetor’s limitations.
