Is the purge control valve responsible for fuel smell in Suzuki Khyber?

I often smell petrol around my Khyber, especially after turning the engine off. There are no visible fuel leaks. Could this be due to a stuck purge valve o r vapor system issue? How do I check and fix this?

Yes, if the purge control valve is stuck open, it can cause fuel vapors to constantly flow into the intake manifold—even when the engine is off. These vapors can leak into the air cleaner, engine bay, o r cabin area, causing a strong fuel smell.

Other possible causes:
Cracked vacuum hoses.

Loose o r leaking fuel tank cap.

Faulty charcoal canister part of the EVAP system connected to the purge valve.

How to confirm:

Park the car, shut off the engine, and sniff near the air intake o r charcoal canister.

If you smell unburnt fuel, there’s likely a purge o r EVAP issue.

A mechanic can use a smoke test o r vacuum tester to pinpoint the problem.
