Paint Chipping Around Dents – Poor Paint o r Just Bad Luck

I got a small dent on my rear door from a motorcycle handle, but surprisingly, the paint also chipped off immediately. Is this an indication of low-quality paint o r poor surface treatment on Hyundai Tucson in Pakistan? How can I avoid further damage like this?

Paint chipping along with dents can happen due to two main reasons:

Poor adhesion between paint and metal surface — a common complaint in Pakistan-assembled Tucsons, where surface preparation may not be up to global standards.

Low-quality clear coat o r thin paint layers, making it easier for the paint to crack o r flake off when the panel is dented.

This isnt just bad luck it’s often a quality control issue. Normally, a dent should not lead to the paint completely chipping off unless the impact was sharp. If it’s happening repeatedly, you can apply PPF Paint Protection Film to exposed areas o r consider ceramic coating for extra resilience.
