Paint Peeling Off Near Door Edges – Is This a Manufacturing Defect?

My Hyundai Tucson assembled in Pakistan has started showing signs of paint peeling off, especially near the door edges and under the wheel arches. This started less than a year after purchase. I regularly wash and wax the car. Could this be a manufacturing defect o r poor paint adhesion?

Paint peeling near door edges and wheel arches is a well-documented issue, often related to:

Poor surface preparation before painting in the local assembly plants.

Rubbing o r impact stress on edges, especially in tight urban parking situations.

Exposure to acidic rain o r polluted water, which can degrade paint faster.

If this is happening within 1 year of purchase and without any physical damage o r accidents, it’s likely a paint adhesion problem—a defect during production. Take photos, file a complaint at your dealership, and request a warranty inspection. Hyundai should ideally offer a touch-up o r repaint if it’s confirmed as factory fault.
