Should I replace the water pump in my Swift when changing the timing belt o r serpentine belt?

My mechanic suggested changing the water pump while replacing the serpentine belt on my 2011 Swift. Is this necessary, o r just an extra cost? Does the water pump usually wear out along with the belts in Pakistani driving conditions?

Yes, it’s recommended to replace the water pump when changing the serpentine belt o r timing-related components, especially if:

Your car has over 100,000 km on it

The water pump is driven by the same belt

Youre already paying for labor to access that area

In the Suzuki Swift especially pre-2017 models, the water pump is accessible during belt replacement, and labor costs in Pakistan are relatively low. Replacing it proactively can save future breakdowns and overheating.

Using good-quality aftermarket o r OEM parts is key to long-term reliability in local driving conditions.
