Toyota 2E Variations

Toyota 2E Variations

Ok I was seeing there are a lot of variations in the old Toyota 2E series engines.

LIke the 2E-LU got 66 HP and normal 2E got 82 or 74HP even though they are same Carbi engines with same bore and stroke so how can one be with a low power than the other one?

And how can i check which engine i got in my Car? though the chasis plate says engine: 2E...

Toyota makes region specific vehicles. The L means the engine is transversly mounted and usually prefixes the U meaning its equipped with emissions control systems for Japan. (The U notation has also been associated with the introduction of Unleaded fuel in Japan.) e.g. 4A-GELU etc. The 2E has three improvements as it was made from 84-90. three most common ones were the 2E, 2E-E and the 2E-TE (EP7* Starlet GT). Look up your Chassis plate, you'd determine the year of manufacture and plant helping you to determine power output etc.
