Toyota Lhr Workshops -- Thieves Galore??

Toyota Lhr Workshops -- Thieves Galore??

My 2.0D has done 96k km, and its time to change the timing belt.

I called Toyota Walton, Township, as well as a Montgomery road shop (Kamal Autos) which deals in rolla spares.
Anyways the prices I got were as follows:-

Toyota Wkshops Montgomery Road
Timing Belt 1,850 1,550
Timing Bearings 6,600~7,000 875

What worries me is the price difference in the timing bearing .. a difference of almost 6k? lolz
If the prices were off by 500 or 1k, its still understandable since those workshops have more overheads .. but I wasn't expecting the difference (profit margin??) to be this huge, lolz!

Need some advice from fellow PWers who have changed rolla's timing belt!

regards,

Exactly. I had a very similar experience. I went to toyota ravi motors to get an estimate. Timing belt, AC belt, timing bearings..total cost they calculated was 9K +.

Than i went to islamabad one weekend and called a very old and reliable auto spare parts dealer. bought all the stuff within 2k and got them changed.

Infact there is a toyota ravi spare parts shop on montgomery road (probably the same shop u are talking about). i called them up and they told me that the bearings will cost 5k approximately. i wonder how come they said onething to me and than a totally different thing to u.
