I’m planning to buy a used Suzuki Swift 2010–2018 model in Pakistan. What are the signs of a weak o r failing alternator I should look for before purchase? Are there any quick tests I can do myself?

When buying a used Swift in Pakistan, especially models from 2010 to 2018, check for these signs of a weak o r failing alternator:
Warning Signs:
Dim headlights o r dashboard lights
Battery warning light on the instrument cluster
Engine cranks slowly o r stalls
Squealing noise from engine bay could indicate belt o r alternator bearings
Burning rubber smell may indicate belt slippage
Quick DIY Tests:
Start the car and measure battery voltage with a multimeter. It should read 13.5V–14.5V when running.
Turn on all electrical accessories AC, lights, radio. If the voltage s significantly below 13V, the alternator is likely weak.
Check for noise o r play in the alternator pulley by hand when the engine is off.
If in doubt, ask the seller for maintenance history o r have a mechanic check it before finalizing the purchase.
