What causes a knocking o r clunking sound when turning the steering wheel in my Swift?

Whenever I turn my 2015 Swift’s steering wheel, especially over speed bumps o r uneven roads, I hear a knocking sound from the front. Could this be a suspension o r steering rack issue?

A clunking o r knocking noise during turns is usually a sign of wear in suspension o r steering components, especially in cities with broken o r bumpy roads like Lahore o r Karachi.

Common causes:

Worn-out tie rod ends

Damaged o r loose ball joints

Play in the steering rack o r column

Broken steering rack bushings

CV joint issues especially if noise happens during sharp turns

This problem often develops after hitting potholes o r speed breakers at speed. A mechanic should check the front suspension and steering assembly for any looseness.
