What causes a strong fuel smell from the exhaust in Suzuki Swift?

I’ve noticed a strong petrol smell from my Swift’s exhaust, especially during cold starts o r in traffic. It seems to be burning more fuel than usual. Is this a common issue in Pakistani conditions due to poor fuel quality o r a malfunctioning fuel system? Could it affect engine performance o r lead to failed emissions?
