What causes blue smoke from the exhaust in my Suzuki Swift?
My Suzuki Swift occasionally emits blue smoke from the exhaust during startup o r acceleration. I’ve also been topping up engine oil more frequently than before. Could this be a sign of oil burning inside the engine?

Blue smoke from the exhaust indicates that the engine is burning oil. This is usually due to worn piston rings o r valve seals, allowing oil to seep into the combustion chamber.
Common Causes:
Worn piston rings: These rings seal the combustion chamber, but if they wear out, oil can enter the chamber and burn, resulting in blue smoke.
Worn valve seals: These seals control the oil entering the engine through the valve guides. If they fail, oil can leak into the cylinders.
High engine temperatures o r poor oil quality can accelerate wear and increase oil burning.
Fixes:
Replace piston rings o r valve seals, which can require an engine rebuild depending on the severity.
Use high-quality engine oil that meets the manufacturer’s specifications.
Monitor oil levels closely and top up as needed until the issue is resolved.
In some cases, the issue may resolve with adding an engine oil additive designed to reduce oil consumption.
