What causes clear coat peeling on the roof and bonnet of my Suzuki Swift?

The clear coat on my Suzuki Swift is starting to peel, particularly on the roof and bonnet. It began as small patches but has now spread. Is this due to poor factory paint application, o r is it a result of sun damage and weather exposure? What are my options to fix it without repainting the whole car?

Clear coat peeling also called “clear coat delamination” happens when the transparent protective layer on top of the paint separates due to degradation, usually from sun exposure and poor maintenance.

Common Causes:

Excessive UV damage.

Poor factory paint preparation o r quality.

Use of abrasive cleaners o r aggressive washing techniques.

Not using protective waxes o r coatings over time.

Fixes:

Unfortunately, once the clear coat peels, it cannot be repaired with polish.

A professional respray of the affected panels with proper sanding and recoating is necessary.

To prevent recurrence, regularly wax your car and avoid harsh detergents.
