What causes premature rusting in the body of the Suzuki Swift?
My Swift has started showing signs of rust near the wheel arches, underbody, and door sills. I’ve seen many other Swifts in Pakistan with similar rusting issues. Could this be due to poor rust-proofing, monsoon water exposure, o r road salt? How serious is it, and how can I prevent further damage?

Rusting is a frequent issue in Suzuki Swifts in Pakistan, often due to the harsh weather, moisture exposure, and the lack of proper rust-proofing in many locally assembled models.
Common Causes:
Monsoon water exposure—water retention in the underbody and wheel arches after heavy rains accelerates rusting.
Road salts—if the car is driven on salted roads in winter o r along coastal areas, corrosion becomes more rapid.
Poor paint and sealant jobs—weak factory paint and inadequate rust-proofing make the body more vulnerable to rust.
Neglecting underbody cleaning—dirt and debris trapped under the car hold moisture, which promotes rust.
Fixes:
Regularly clean the underbody to remove debris, especially after rain o r driving on wet roads.
Apply anti-rust undercoating and sealant to protect the body.
Touch up chipped o r scratched paint immediately to prevent rust from forming.
If rust is already present, consider sandblasting and repainting the affected areas, followed by an anti-rust treatment.
Addressing rust early can prevent it from spreading and causing severe body damage.
