If your engine overheats unexpectedly, take these steps immediately to prevent serious damage:

Pull Over Safely: Stop the car as soon as it’s safe to do so and turn off the engine to let it cool down.

Open the Hood Carefully: Allow steam to escape slowly. Never open the radiator cap when the engine is hot to avoid burns.

Check Coolant Level: Once cooled, check the coolant reservoir for low levels. If low, adding coolant o r water can help temporarily.

Look for Leaks: Inspect for visible coolant leaks under the car o r from hoses.

Turn Off AC: Shut off the air conditioning to reduce engine load and turn on the heater to draw heat away from the engine.

Call for Help: If the problem persists o r coolant is leaking, call a professional mechanic o r roadside assistance.

Regular maintenance and monitoring of the cooling system can help avoid such emergencies on the road.
