Why do Suzuki Mehran brakes feel weak, especially when driving downhill?

While driving my Mehran on hilly roads like Murree o r Abbottabad, the brakes feel soft and unresponsive. There’s no ABS and it’s hard to stop quickly. Is this a common problem in Mehran? What can I do to make the braking system safer and more reliable for steep areas o r emergency situations?

Mehran has a basic braking system drum at rear, disc at front and no ABS, which leads to:

Brake fade on steep descents due to overheating

Reduced brake pressure with time especially in old o r unmaintained cars

Risk of skidding on wet o r sandy roads

Solutions:

Replace brake pads and bleed the brake fluid regularly every 20,000–30,000 km.

Use high-quality DOT 3 o r DOT 4 brake fluid.

Consider upgrading to ventilated front discs if budget allows.

When driving downhill, use engine braking by downshifting to a lower gear instead of constantly using brakes.

Routine maintenance is crucial – many Mehran users ignore brake fluid for years, reducing effectiveness.
