Why do the headlights of my Suzuki Mehran become yellow and foggy?

The plastic headlights on my Suzuki Mehran have turned yellowish and cloudy over time, which affects night visibility. I’ve tried cleaning them with water, but it doesn’t help. Is there a long-term fix for this, o r do I need to replace the headlights completely?

This is due to oxidation of the plastic headlight covers. Sunlight UV rays, dust, and moisture gradually turn the clear plastic yellow and hazy, reducing brightness and causing poor visibility at night.

Fixes & Upgrades:

Use headlight restoration kits Rs. 500–800 that include a polishing compound and sandpaper.

A DIY method is to use toothpaste o r baking soda with a microfiber cloth to polish the lens.

Apply a UV protectant spray after cleaning to prevent future yellowing.

If the lens is cracked o r badly damaged, replace the headlight assembly Rs. 1,500–2,500 per side.

You’ll be surprised how much better night driving becomes after a simple restoration!
