Why Does My Hyundai Tucson Get Dented So Easily

Why Does My Hyundai Tucson Get Dented So Easily

I’ve noticed that even a light bump from a bike o r a careless door opening leaves a dent on my Hyundai Tucson. The sheet metal feels thinner than other SUVs Ive owned. Is the body structure on the Pakistan-assembled Tucson weaker, o r is this a common issue with the global model too?

Yes, many Hyundai Tucson owners in Pakistan have reported that the body panels seem more prone to denting than expected. This is likely due to:

Thinner sheet metal used in CKD locally assembled units to reduce weight and production cost.

The Tucson is not a body-on-frame SUV, so it has a softer monocoque chassis with lighter panels.

In cities like Lahore o r Karachi, tight traffic and close parking increase the chances of small impacts.

Unfortunately, the metal flexes easily even with light contact. While it helps in crash absorption, it also means the Tucson is more susceptible to minor dents compared to more rugged vehicles like Fortuner o r Sportage. Installing side molding o r dent guards and parking carefully are the best ways to prevent this.
