Why does my Hyundai Tucson’s transmission fail to engage o r gets stuck in one gear?

Sometimes, my Tucson’s automatic transmission won’t shift out of one gear o r refuses to engage when I put it in drive. This problem occurs especially in older models o r high-mileage vehicles in Pakistan. What are the common transmission faults causing this issue, and how can I resolve it?

Transmission getting stuck o r not engaging often happens because of:

Low o r dirty transmission fluid: Insufficient fluid pressure causes the transmission to lock up in one gear.

Faulty shift solenoids: These control the gear changes electronically if they fail, the transmission may get stuck.

Mechanical wear o r damage: Internal components like bands, clutches, o r valve bodies may wear out.

Transmission control module malfunction: If the module fails to send correct commands, the transmission may not shift properly.

Recommended action:

Check transmission fluid level and condition flush if necessary.

Have shift solenoids tested and replaced if faulty.

Perform full transmission diagnostic and mechanical inspection.

Update o r repair transmission control module software.
