Why does my Suzuki Swift engine sputter on cold starts?

Lately, my Suzuki Swift’s engine has been sputtering and running rough when I start it in the morning, especially when the engine is cold. The problem usually disappears once the engine warms up. What could be causing this issue, and is it something I need to be concerned about?

Cold start sputtering usually stems from improper fuel-air mixture regulation when the engine is cold.

Common Causes:

Faulty Coolant Temperature Sensor: Sends wrong signals to the ECU, resulting in incorrect fuel enrichment.

Dirty Fuel Injectors: Can’t deliver the needed extra fuel during cold starts.

Worn Spark Plugs: May struggle to ignite the mixture in cold conditions.

Weak Battery: Causes poor ignition system performance at start-up.

Fixes:

Check and replace the coolant temperature sensor if its faulty.

Use a fuel injector cleaner o r have the injectors professionally cleaned.

Replace worn spark plugs with the recommended type.

Test the battery and replace it if it’s weak, especially before winter.
