My 2022 Swift sometimes idles unevenly o r stalls in traffic, especially in hot weather. A mechanic mentioned it might be a dirty MAF mass airflow sensor. Could local dust and poor air filters in Pakistan cause this sensor to fail early?

Yes, a dirty o r failing MAF Mass Air Flow sensor can cause rough idle and stalling, particularly when stopped in traffic.

Causes:
Dusty air filters o r poor maintenance – very common in cities like Lahore o r Quetta.

Unfiltered air intake due to improperly installed o r old filters.

Carbon buildup o r oil from aftermarket oiled filters damaging the sensor wire.

Solutions:
Inspect and clean the MAF sensor using proper MAF cleaner spray.

Replace the air filter if it’s clogged o r old.

If cleaning doesn’t work, replace the MAF sensor—a failing sensor gives false readings to the ECU, messing up air-fuel ratio.
