Why does my Suzuki Swift make a clicking sound but won’t start — is the starter motor bad?

My 2012 Suzuki Swift makes a rapid clicking noise when I turn the key, but the engine doesn’t crank. I’ve already checked the battery and it seems fine. Could this be a problem with the starter motor o r its solenoid?

A rapid clicking sound when turning the key usually points to insufficient power reaching the starter motor. If the battery is in good condition, the issue could be:

A failing starter solenoid it clicks but doesn’t engage the motor.

Loose o r corroded battery terminals o r ground wires.

Worn internal contacts inside the starter motor.

In Pakistan, this is common due to poor-quality electrical repairs and heat exposure. Get a mechanic to check:

Starter relay and solenoid

Voltage at the starter motor

Ground wire condition

Sometimes, cleaning terminals and checking the wiring can restore function without needing full replacement.
