Why does my Suzuki Swift need frequent oil top-ups after 100,000 km?
Since crossing 100,000 km, my Suzuki Swift’s engine oil consumption has increased. I now have to top up oil every few weeks. Is this normal aging, o r should I be worried about piston rings o r valve seals wearing out?

After the 100,000 km mark, it’s common for engine components, such as piston rings, valve seals, and the gasket to wear out. This results in oil leaks o r oil burning in the engine.
Common Causes:
Engine wear: As the engine ages, gaskets, seals, and piston rings degrade, leading to oil loss.
Incorrect oil viscosity: If you’ve switched to a different oil grade, it could cause excessive oil consumption.
Clogged o r malfunctioning PCV valve: A blocked o r malfunctioning valve can cause oil to be sucked into the engine and burned.
Fixes:
Have a mechanic check for leaks o r wear in engine components, including piston rings and seals.
Consider using a high-mileage oil that’s formulated to help reduce consumption in older engines.
Inspect the PCV valve for proper operation and replace if necessary.
If engine wear is significant, you might need to consider a top-end overhaul o r engine rebuild.
