Why does my Swift make no sound at all when I turn the key — is the starter motor dead?

This morning, I turned the key in my 2014 Swift and got no sound at all — not even a click. Lights come on, and the battery is new. Could this mean the starter motor has completely failed?

No sound when turning the key — no click, no crank — suggests complete starter motor o r solenoid failure, o r an electrical control issue.

Check the following:

Battery connections and voltage even a new battery can fail if not charged

Starter relay and ignition switch

Wiring to the starter motor

If all these are working, the starter’s internal coil o r motor is likely dead. A mechanical tap on the motor body can sometimes get it working temporarily not a fix, but a useful roadside trick. In most cases, youll need to replace the starter o r have it rebuilt.
