Why does my Swift only start after multiple tries — could the starter motor be weak?

Sometimes my Swift won’t start on the first try — I have to turn the key 2–3 times before the engine cranks. Mechanics say it might be the starter motor wearing out. How can I confirm this before replacing it?

If your car only starts after turning the key multiple times, it could indicate a starter motor nearing failure, especially the internal brushes o r the solenoid contacts.

Common causes:

Worn starter brushes especially after 80,000–100,000 km

Intermittent solenoid engagement

A sticking ignition switch

Weak electrical connections o r a faulty relay

In Pakistan, mechanics sometimes overlook these and blame the battery. Ask for a starter draw test — it checks how much power the starter is consuming and whether its turning the engine properly.
