Why does the fabric on my Swift’s roof lining sag o r fall off?

The interior roof fabric headliner in my Suzuki Swift has started to sag and come off, particularly from the edges and center. I’ve seen this happen frequently in older Swifts in Pakistan, especially in extreme heat. Is this due to poor adhesive quality, and how can it be fixed o r prevented in the future?

Sagging headliners are extremely common in older Suzuki Swifts in Pakistan, mainly due to excessive interior heat weakening the glue that holds the fabric to the foam backing.

Common Causes:

Poor-quality adhesive used by the manufacturer.

Extreme heat and humidity in Pakistan, causing glue to dry out.

Age and wear—usually happens after 5–7 years.

Fixes:

Re-gluing temporarily won’t last. Best solution is to replace o r reupholster the headliner using heat-resistant adhesive and new fabric.

Use sunshades and avoid prolonged sun exposure to delay sagging.

Leaving it unattended can cause the fabric to droop more, blocking vision and reducing interior appeal.
