Why Is My Hyundai Tucson Consuming Engine Oil Faster Than Expected?

I’ve noticed that my Hyundai Tucson 2.0L petrol, locally assembled needs engine oil top-ups between scheduled oil changes. It’s consuming more than half a liter every 1,000–1,500 km. There are no visible leaks. Is this normal, o r is there something wrong with the engine?

Excessive oil consumption is not normal if your Tucson is burning more than half a liter per 1,000–1,500 km. Possible causes include:

Worn piston rings o r valve seals allowing oil into the combustion chamber.

PCV Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve issues, causing internal pressure to push oil into the intake.

Poor quality engine oil, especially in hot Pakistani climates.

While some oil burn is acceptable in modern engines, this level suggests a mechanical o r quality-related issue. Hyundai dealerships may try to dismiss it as within limits, but you should document usage e.g., measure oil every 1,000 km and press for an inspection under warranty.
