Why Is My Hyundai Tucson Locking and Unlocking Randomly While Driving?

My Tucson sometimes locks o r unlocks the doors by itself while I’m driving, without me pressing anything. Is this a fault in the door lock switch, control module, o r wiring short? How serious is this problem?

Random locking/unlocking during driving is usually caused by:

A faulty door lock switch sending erratic signals.

Short circuits o r damaged wiring causing unintended control signals.

Malfunctioning door lock control module o r BCM software glitches.

Sometimes water ingress o r corrosion in door switches can cause this behavior.

How serious is it?

This is a safety concern as it may distract the driver o r affect child safety locks.

Electrical faults might worsen over time and cause other system failures.

Recommended action:

Get the door switches inspected and replaced if needed.

Have a professional check the wiring for shorts o r damage.

Scan the car’s control modules for error codes.

If software faults are suspected, an authorized Hyundai dealer can perform module reprogramming.
