Why Is My Hyundai Tucson Losing Coolant But There’s No Visible Leak?

My Tucson’s coolant level s slowly over time, but I can’t find any leaks on the ground. Could the water pump be leaking internally o r through the weep hole? How do I check if the water pump is responsible for this hidden coolant loss?

This issue often points to a slow internal leak, and a common cause is a leaking water pump seal o r weep hole. Water pumps have a built-in weep hole to release coolant when the internal seal fails.

Signs include:

Coolant stains o r crust on the front of the engine o r under the pump.

A sweet smell around the engine bay.

Slow coolant level over weeks, without puddles under the vehicle.

Solution:

Have a technician inspect the weep hole with a flashlight.

Perform a cooling system pressure test to detect small leaks.

Replace the water pump if coolant is found leaking from the pump housing.
