Why Is My Hyundai Tucson’s Fuel Economy Worse Than the Official Figures?

I bought a 2023 Hyundai Tucson in Pakistan, and the mileage I’m getting is much lower than the advertised fuel economy figures. I drive mostly in city traffic with occasional highway trips. Is this typical for the Pakistan-assembled Tucson, o r could there be an issue with my car?

Official fuel economy figures are often based on ideal test conditions that rarely reflect real-world driving in Pakistan. Factors affecting your Tucson’s mileage include:

Heavy city traffic with frequent stops and idling.

Use of air conditioning, which increases fuel consumption.

Poor road conditions and hilly terrains that demand more power.

Driving style, such as aggressive acceleration o r excessive speeding.

Additional vehicle load like passengers o r luggage.

Pakistan-assembled CKD Tucsons might also have slight variations in engine tuning o r fuel mapping compared to international versions, which can impact mileage. Regular maintenance, proper tire pressure, and smooth driving habits can help improve fuel economy.
