Why is my Mercedes-Benz developing rust bubbles under the paint?

My 2017 Mercedes GLC is developing small bubbles under the paint near the wheel arches and lower panels. It looks like rust forming underneath. The car hasn’t been in any accident. I drive it mostly in Islamabad. Is this a known issue with Mercedes paint o r body protection in local conditions?

Rust bubbles under the paint usually indicate corrosion starting from beneath the surface, which is serious. In Pakistan, this can happen due to:

High humidity especially in coastal cities,

Poor drainage o r mud buildup in wheel arches,

Exposure to polluted rainwater acid rain,

Or damaged paint exposing bare metal.

Mercedes-Benz vehicles do have good rust protection, but once the paint is compromised even slightly, rust can develop rapidly in our climate.

Recommendations:

Have the affected area inspected and repaired professionally—this often involves sanding, treating the rust, priming, and repainting.

Apply underbody coating o r rust-proofing spray if not already done.

Wash and dry wheel arches and underbody after driving in rain o r mud.

If your vehicle is still under warranty, visit an authorized Mercedes-Benz service center to check if rust repair is covered.
