Why is my Suzuki Swift leaking transmission fluid from the bottom of the car?

I noticed a red o r brownish fluid pooling underneath my Suzuki Swift, especially after parking it overnight. I believe its transmission fluid, but I’m not sure where its coming from. Could this be a sign of a damaged transmission pan o r faulty seals? How can I pinpoint the exact source of the leak?

If you notice red o r brownish fluid pooling under the vehicle, it’s likely transmission fluid, which is typically a sign of a leak. This issue is fairly common and can stem from several sources.

Common Causes:

Damaged Transmission Pan: The transmission pan can get cracked o r damaged due to road debris o r improper handling during maintenance, leading to a fluid leak.

Faulty Seals and Gaskets: The seals e.g., output shaft seal, input shaft seal, o r pan gasket can wear out over time, allowing transmission fluid to leak.

Loose Transmission Pan Bolts: If the bolts holding the transmission pan are loose, it can lead to a fluid leak around the edges of the pan.

Transmission Cooler Lines: The cooler lines might have a small leak, especially at their connections to the radiator o r transmission.

Fixes:

Inspect the transmission pan for damage. If cracked, it will need to be replaced.

Check the seals and gaskets around the pan and transmission components for signs of wear. Replace them as necessary.

Tighten the bolts on the transmission pan if they’re loose. Don’t overtighten, as this can cause further damage.

Look for signs of leaks along the cooler lines and replace any damaged sections.

If the fluid leak persists, have a professional mechanic conduct a detailed inspection to pinpoint the exact source.
