Why Won’t My Hyundai Tucson Start Even Though the Battery Is Fine?

My Hyundai Tucson won’t start, but the dashboard lights and electronics work, so I don’t think it’s the battery. Could a busted starter motor be the cause? How can I confirm that the starter is the actual problem?

If your Tucson won’t start but all electronics like dashboard lights, infotainment, and headlights work, it likely isn’t a battery issue. A common cause in this case is a faulty starter motor. The starter is responsible for cranking the engine when you turn the key o r press the start button. If the motor is worn out o r the solenoid fails, the engine won’t crank despite the battery being healthy. To confirm:

Listen for a clicking sound o r no sound at all when attempting to start.

Try a jump start — if the car still won’t crank, the starter is likely at fault.

Get a mechanic to perform a starter motor bench test o r voltage check at the starter terminals.
Sometimes, issues like a blown starter fuse, bad relay, o r loose battery connections can also cause no-crank symptoms, so those should be ruled out first.
